OK, played against this Odin guy and was surprised to see him advance through Heimdall.
We had a big fight over the water which I initially won, but then he advanced with Njord and with 4 Krakens he wiped me out of the sea.
Meanwhile, I realized what was going to happen and abandoned the sea, turning to farming for food.
During this time, I advanced from both sides of the coast, making FB on one side and claiming his 3rd TC on the other.
We had a few scuffles on land, which I managed to win and then -after I advanced to Heroic- when he saw my cavalry coming and a force of Valks and Warpigs roaming around his base, he quit.
The different thing about this game, was that I've never seen an Odin advance with Heimdall and wasn't exactly sure how to deal with it, so we both made lots of Hersir.
The game has a few nice battles, plus the abandoning of the sea by the Thor player, which usually spells doom for any player on Med.
I have to say this was a GG. It probably has the best naval battles I've ever seen in an online game, too often battles take place solely on the land.

i agree with diohaveto. so many games are totally on land. even on a central lake map, people do not build navyies and those who do get killed on land. it sucks when that happens so i just dont build much navyies now bc ppl just use land army on me :(

How can you play Med and not have naval battles?
I think that every forumer of the strategy section, knows that you have to fight the sea for the unlimited food.
On the other hand, a fleet of 5-10 arrowships doesn't hurt your pop space so much, not if you consider the return on food.\
Still, one has to make an army and use it on land, perhaps even advancing on both sides of the map -under cover of arrow fire from the fleet. Also, there may be one TC in siege ships range, which is another factor.
Pls visit the strategy forum and check out the threads on strategy.
