AoM: The Titans |
A RMS By me created with MapGen. Its a great map but it takes forever to load. Other than that Taiga is a great map. Their are no open settlements and the gold can only be found on cliffs. |

How could you get the danged MapGen thing to work, whenever I try it says 'Failed to load: "Map"' or something like that. I'll download and see if your map works for me. |

Overall, it is a pretty good map. Everything looked nice, although sometimes the cliffs looked really crazy. The rivers fit in well and the forests, although there may have been too many of them, looked good.
I do have a few complaints though. One is that the constraints weren't set real well. I often found the map was completely one-sided. Most of the gold would end up on one side of the map while most of the huntables on the other. Also, I found that animals were often either stikcing out of the side of cliffs or in the middle of a forest where the hard to get to.
From a gameplay and strategic view, this is a really great map. There is no other RM like it that comes with the game at least. The way the rivers are set up it provides diffucult strategic desicions to be made from the start. The only thing is it wasn't completly balanced as far as this goes to. Player 1 starts pretty much with their backs against a wall trapped between river and the edge of the map where Player 2 starts in a nice open space with room for expansion and attacks.
Lastly, kudos for getting MapGen to work. That program is a piece of work for me and whatever I try to do, it just doesn't work. But I'll keep trying.
Additional Comments: Overall, this is a good map and a fun one to play.

Ya, I did know that, and I've been fiddling with MapGen and I've been getting some stuff to work.
The reason I liked your map so much is the strategic challenges the layout brought. It's definetly a map I will continue to play and maybe even play online if you don't mind. |

Very good!
A very good attempt at a random map, definately beond my skill. The resorces are spread out nicely too. I will also credit you for the use of the water, cliff and forest. It is a well built map!
However, there a couple of things that you could improve:
#Elevation changes pahaps?
#More randomness on cliff shapes
#Mix terrain more
I am afraid that these are quite important aspects on good random maps. Mixing the elevation will get you a 4. (I lack some of these espects too - alot more since im trashy at random maps since I don't know XML)
Additional Comments:
It is a very good map, if you manage to do all these these things, i'll pahaps give you a 5!
Great job!
Oh - last note, could you possibly make the load bar more more because it gives the impression that the game has crashed!

It's the way the script loads - I have the same program to male the random map script as he used and if you are not careful, it will take a while to load! Normaly it is because the map is too big! Max size of 500 is normaly a good rule.
I also have YATE which I like better because you can add triggers.[Edited on 10/28/06 @ 08:23 PM]
