Playability: 3
This map was a decent challenge to play. I lost the first try on medium, and when I poked the restart button it put it on easy, so I won. But it was a decent challenge of Medium, and I'd have probably done it on that difficulty again if it had not lowered it for me. :(
Any way, it was about as good as your other maps, and no less.
Balance: 2
This map on easy was too easy, and on medium, as I said was a bit on the rough side. They say that a player should lose at least once, if not it's too easy, but I don't like losing.
I'll just say that it was a bit unbalanced. Not too bad but it could use some tweaking.
Creativity: 2
This map, while it had a greater story than the others, was not much more inventive. I'd say spice it up a bit. You did better with Greek Invaders as far as creativity goes. It wasn't bad, but you've done better. I'm holding out. You've obviously promise, but need to work on it.
Map Design: 3
The map design was nice. About as nice as in Greek Invaders. I liked the cliff wall you placed down and that it had more than one entrance. However! I would have made more cliff through out the map to make it look less like a mountain in the high plains. I'd have placed a few more cliffs across the map, and slowly taper them away until there weren't any.
I liked the gold you gave the player in this map, along with the woods, but there was little food concentrated. The herds of deer were in groups of four or five, and a long ways apart. This is not bad, but it made me think twice about actually hunting them.
Story/Instructions: 2.5
The story was weak. it was about like your other maps, and there wasn't much in the way of instructions. I did like that there was a cinematic in the middle of the game though. That made it more like I was playing a story, even if it was poorly told.
If I were you, I'd work on the cinematics though. Try never letting the camera stop moving for long, and zooming out rather than in that way the camera isn't zoomed in when player gets back to playing. Also, try angling the camera low to the ground, and aiming level. To do this you'll have to unlock the camera (It either ctrl-alt-c or crtl-shift-c, I can't recall which.) This will make any eye candy look LEAGUES better. Just be sure to use a render sky. Try skyblue first.
If you angle towards the middle of the map you'll get lag, so try to look towards the edge, and use something between the horizon and the render sky (Wall, hill, buildings etc.)
Additional Comments:
A nice map in all, I know the review doesn't reflect that quite the way I wanted, but keep it up! |
